Public Policy Agenda

Adopted October 27, 2010
  • Smart Grid Oregon will monitor and participate in the OPUC smart grid proceedings and, if necessary, support legislation requiring smart grid planning in IOU’s OPUC plan filings, separate from the IRP process.
  • Smart Grid Oregon will participate in the OPUC docket and/or legislation to support NIST national standards for interoperability and cyber security in relation to the smart grid.
  • Smart Grid Oregon will support formation of a “best practices” academic team to establish Oregon as a leader in training engineers for conducting applied research associated with smart grid issues.  We will work to identify and gain commitment from top tier professors and universities to participate in the project.   We will evaluate the policy concept behind the “Fund for Energy, Jobs and Innovation” (LC 1291) as a funding mechanism for the academic team, before taking position on the legislation itself.
  • Smart Grid Oregon supports continued public investment in clean energy and energy efficiency as part of an integrated and intelligent grid system, and will support programs and policies that we determine meet these goals.
